Main Street Station Casino Welcomes Back Vegas Gamblers

On 8th September at 6 a.m, Boyd Gaming’s Main Street Station casino in downtown Las Vegas will open again to gaming tourists. The casino facility will reopen for the first time after being shuttered for 540 days due to pandemic restrictions since last March.

Boyd Gaming Corporation, which operates Main Street Station, confirmed the news on Twitter on Monday.

On 4th June 2020, Nevada casinos got permission to reopen, but Main Street Station continued to be closed. It has been unclear when the property would open again to the public.

Rising demand in Las Vegas downtown has made it a realistic option for the hotel-casino having a Victorian theme to reopen. Main Street Station, which is now hiring for various roles, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, starting September 8. However, its two eateries will have limited hours.

Steve Thompson, Boyd’s Gaming VP of operations, said they are excited about the reopening of Main Street Station, also calling back their team members and guests waiting to return. All three casinos in Boyd Gaming’s downtown, like the California Hotel & Casino, will stay open for business after Main Street Station reopens from next month. The two important casinos- Fremont Hotel & Casino and California Hotel & Casino are enjoying good business.

Amanda Belarmino, a hospitality professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), is pleased to see casinos getting back to the business. Describing Main Street Station as a downtown Las Vegas icon reopening is beneficial to both residents and tourists. Belarmino went on to say that the reopening date is ideal for taking advantage of fall tourism and conferences.

Rising Gaming Demand in Nevada

Due to the lockdown, the future of these casinos was dark. According to the company executives, the demand will define if the reopening is the right thing to do. One of the biggest tourists and customer inflow to the Main Street Station is from Hawaii. Keith Smith, the CEO of Boyd Gaming, said the earnings in July month would depend on the traffic.” Boyd Gaming will resume its Hawaii charter jet service on September 3.

As the inflow of visitors is increasing in Nevada, other casino firms, on the other hand, are keeping their business closed. Three casinos in Station have been closed since last March when the lockdown was imposed.
