Infantino Meets Lasso on the Sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly

As the 77th United Nations General Assembly is underway, several crucial talks have been held among leaders. One of them relates to the development of football in Ecuador.

As per the latest sports news, Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, is in New York City to attend the event, and so is Guillermo Lasso, the President of Ecuador. Both took a few moments to hold crucial discussions on the development of football as a sport, especially highlighting the long-term vision of developing Ecuadorian football.

The current meeting follows the one held in October 2021 in Ecuador. The South African country had hosted Gianni Infantino for that meeting. Infantino returned with compliments for the region based on the progress that it had made in the sport. The approach adopted by the Ecuadorian Football Federation was completely in line with the long-term vision of FIFA for the long-term development of Ecuadorian football.

The upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 also came into the discussions. Ecuador is scheduled to play against Qatar in the tournament’s opening match. It is scheduled for November 20, 2022, as a part of Group A matches. Ecuador will further play against the Netherlands on November 25, 2022, and Senegal on November 29, 2022. A total of 8 groups have been formed, starting from Group A. All 32 teams will compete in the group match to qualify for the next round.

As the tournament approaches, some best FIFA betting sites have begun functioning on their respective platforms. Guillermo Lasso and Gianni Infantino recounted their discussions on the joint initiatives of FIFA and the Ecuadorian Football Association. The main topic remained the collaboration of football associations of Ecuador and Mexico, where both associations came forward to share the refereeing knowledge. It was a two-day session organized in response to the partnership agreement signed between the football associations of both the countries. The session hugely benefited from the technical input and coordination of the Member Association Division of FIFA.

The last group match will be played on December 03, 2022. While Brazil will compete with Cameroon, Serbia will go against Switzerland on the final matchday of the stage. Both the matches are for the teams in Group G. Ecuador’s football development has helped the team do wonders in its recent matches. The victory of 1-0 against Cape Verde came on June 12, 2022. There was no result with Mexico, but the team could put up a 1-1 tie with Argentina on March 30, 2022.
