BetMGM Challenges Caesars With a Competing Championship at Las Vegas Strip

BetMGM has announced the BetMGM Poker Championship, a tournament with a $3,500 buy-in and a guaranteed high stake of $1 million. The championship will be organized at the Aria Resort & Casino in the coming month.

BetMGM Poker Championship is an attempt by the brand to take on the dominance of Caesars Entertainment in the Las Vegas Strip that it has established through the World Series of Poker, also known as WSOP.

The Las Vegas Strip has seen a lot of championships, like hosting the finals of the Stanley Cup after the Golden Knights advanced to the championship round. The 4.2-mile stretch is now gearing up to experience new competition between the two well-established casino brands.

Both casinos cater to different customers; however, recent developments show a picture where BetMGM and Caesars have opened their doors to cover as many players as possible.

BetMGM has taken over Cosmopolitan to expand its customer base. On the other hand, Caesars has planned to target mode dedicated gamblers by rebranding Bally’s casino under the Horseshoe brand.

Caesars Entertainment has had its fair share of attention through the World Series of Poker, and the success is such that it has managed to draw all the major eyes to television, even for poker.

The World Series of Poker has been used by Caesars not just to crown the winner every year but also to attract a large audience to Las Vegas. With BetMGM in the picture against Caesars, things could change as Caesars has every intention of stealing that limelight.

Luke Staudenmaier, the Director of Poker at BetMGM, stated that the first-ever championship of the brand was descending at the most exciting times of the poker season. Aria Poker Classic is scheduled to run from June 1 to July 17. The period of six weeks will experience hosting nearly 50 events.

Luke Staudenmaier called Aria a legendary poker brand, adding that BetMGM was thrilled with the championship becoming an integral part of the current year’s Poker Classic. Luke Staudenmaier added that the brand would continue to leverage event programming through its relationship with MGM Resorts and world-class US properties while connecting with the players through the internet in their favorite poker rooms.

The World Series of Poker is the richest event of all the sports. One instance is Jamie Gold, a player who defeated 8,772 other players to win a top prize of $12 million, more than as compared to Wimbledon, The Masters, and the Kentucky Derby combined.

Both the brands ultimately compete for customers. The battle could be exciting in the month to come. Assuming things work out well for both brands, the next year could be even more interesting. Both brands will again compete to outperform each other, indirectly benefiting players as they would have more options to participate.
