The NFL preseason is heating up as the Las Vegas Raiders played their rival San Fransisco 49ers. The football match ended with the Raiders registering a comfortable 34-7 win against the 49ers. Aidan O’Connell, the rookie fourth-round draft pick, put out a tremendous performance at Allegiant Stadium.
Aidan led the Raiders with a touchdown while also throwing for 141 yards. The player expressed delight about the game stating how it was a good first time. However, the rookie believes that there is a long way to go in the team.
The player only had three incompletions, out of which two were dropped passes. The passes were dropped by Tre Tucker, a rookie from Cincinnati. Thus, it is hard to say how Aidan O’Connell could have given a better debut performance.
Josh McDaniels, the coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, also complimented the rookie. The coach stated that there were many firsts for O’Connell at the game – the first time feeling pressure for the team, the first play call, the first halftime, and more. However, McDaniels believes that the rookie handled everything well on the first chance.
A week ago, things looked rough for the rookie as it looked like O’Connell was having trouble adjusting to NFL life. During the initial practice matches, the player forced several off-target throws with multiple would-be sacks.
However, the preseason NFL game against the 49ers showcased a different O’Connell than practice football games. The player was in complete control, making quick releases, unparalleled command, and stoic pocket pressure that raised the odds at top NFL betting sites.
Under Josh McDaniels’ command, the Las Vegas Raiders have registered a 5-0 preseason reign. With only two more preseason NFL games to go, the team would be looking forward to continuing the streak. It goes without saying that O’Connell will also be trying to replicate the performance in the upcoming games.
